The Patient Services Coordinator III - Scheduler is a critical role within the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) team, providing administrative support to healthcare providers in a high-volume ambulatory setting. This position serves as the primary interface between patients and providers, requiring exceptional organizational skills, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, and other managed care-related issues, ensuring seamless communication between patients and providers.
- Administrative Support: Provide basic information and instructions to patients, manage patient flow, and maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Special Projects and Support: Work on special projects as directed, provide cross-coverage for other practice staff members, and assist with training and orientation of new staff.
- Customer Service: Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, providing courteous and effective service to patients, staff, and providers.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science/Business or a Secretarial Training Certificate Program preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years secretarial experience in a medical or healthcare-related setting required.
- Skills: Knowledge of computer skills necessary to use IDX, electronic medical record modules, and transition to PATCOM; good command of the English language, including medical terminology; exceptional organizational skills, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Normal office conditions, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
