Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Durability Engineer to join our Vehicle Systems team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for defining durability specifications for sub-systems and components, ensuring the reliability and performance of our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine automotive durability specifications and test profiles for block cycles, random vibration, and other types of testing.
  • Collaborate with loads development teams to define inputs needed for vehicle, sub-system, and component durability requirement development.
  • Work with validation teams to assist in durability test development and ensure that tests are conducted efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead durability road load data collection and analysis projects, ensuring that data is accurate and reliable.
  • Define data quality standards and measurement best practices to meet the company's standards.
  • Develop and maintain durability data documentation and RLDA library.
  • Work with instrumentation teams to collect proving ground data using wheel force transducers, accelerometers, strain gages, string potentiometers, and vehicle CAN channels.
  • Perform analysis using nCode or similar programs to perform durability load/fatigue calculations for body, chassis, propulsion, electronics, and suspension systems and components.
  • Create standardized methods and document processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Provide raw data and summaries to vehicle modeling and simulations teams for load cascade and correlation studies.
  • Support all durability validation, including full vehicle proving ground testing, MTS 329 rig durability, component bedplate strength and durability, and vibration testing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure that specified test protocols are implemented correctly.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or higher.
  • 5 years of experience in durability, vibration, and loads analysis.
  • Experience with processing and analyzing time and frequency domain data.
  • 2+ years of experience with nCode GlyphWorks, DesignLife, and VibeSys modules for data and durability analyses or similar tools.
  • Experience with finite element software for component stress analysis.
  • Experience defining load data collection, instrumentation, and loads collection, and loads analysis to reduce test data to block cycles, random vibration, etc. for component testing.
  • Experience with durability testing of components, including Component Block Cycle (single and multi-channel), Random Vibration, MAST Table, Real Phase, and Real Time test definition.
  • Experience with data analysis tools, including time series calculations, metadata manipulation, GPS window slicing, Rainflow histograms, Fatigue Damage calculations, Signal filtering, Frequency Response Function Analysis, etc.
  • Experience building process automation methods is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% to witness/observe testing as required.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • No driving-related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period).
  • No drug or alcohol-related driving incidents in the last 3 years.
  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years.
  • Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle.
  • Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring.
Pay Disclosure

Salary range for California-based applicants: $121,500-$151,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
