We are in search of a DER Protection & Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves addressing complex challenges in distributed energy resources (DERs) and protection and controls (P&C) engineering, with a primary focus on renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, and battery systems.
WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid model with flexibility in office attendance
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of robust engineering capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Responsibilities will include collaborating with project managers, guiding design engineers and CADD staff, and conducting design quality assessments. The role may also entail direct client interactions and coordination with remote teams. Projects will encompass a wide spectrum from planning through design and construction support, including Protection and Control schemes ranging from 480V to 500kV, as well as Smart Grid and microgrid automation initiatives.

Leidos Engineering provides extensive knowledge and expertise across a broad spectrum of innovative energy technologies, delivering independent oversight and proven business insights. Our work spans both public and private sectors, including utilities, financial institutions, and local governments.
Key Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems or sustainable energy
- A minimum of two (2+) years of experience in high voltage electrical utility substation protection and control engineering is preferred
- Experience with One and Three-line diagrams
- Familiarity with control and protection schemes, including schematic and wiring diagram preparation
- Prior experience with ASPEN software is advantageous
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience is a plus
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
- Collaborative team player
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills for client and team interactions
- High level of computer proficiency
- Willingness to travel as necessary
