Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to join our team at Charter Communications/Spectrum. This is a multi-tier operations engineering, design, development, and solution deployment position that requires strong technical leadership and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality.
  • Conduct design sessions with architects and engineers to create detailed design documents and functional specifications for new applications/services and enhancements to existing systems/services.
  • Collaborate to create configuration designs for design and implementation of various environments.
  • Develop core code modules, unit test tools, and release notes for enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Review new development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools for functionality/effectiveness.
  • Provide on-call support to resolve issues after normal business hours.
  • Use established change management processes to perform operational procedures with minimal customer impact.
  • Work with database administrators to configure, tune, and maintain databases in various languages.
  • Document systems configurations and upgrades.
  • Design and implement change and control policies and disaster recovery plans.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an outage.
  • Monitor and assist in managing applications, device availability, network conditions, and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance, and storage resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of Enterprise Application Integration work experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years of engineering work experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of video control plane and encryption technologies.
  • Three years' experience with Unix and Linux operating systems.
  • Three years' experience in deployment troubleshooting and providing administration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum seven (7) years of Systems Integration work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Video Compression: MPEG-2 & MPEG-4, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Audio Compression: Dolby AC3, Dolby Digital Plus, AAC, etc.
  • Knowledge of ACLs, firewalls, and load balancing; both physical and virtual.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of advanced networking capabilities to include IGMP, IP unicast, IP multicast, REST API, RPC, DNS, DHCP, TFTP, NTP, and other critical service delivery protocols.
  • Advanced knowledge of network architectures, configurations, TCP/IP, and the OSI Model.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and use of instrumentation tools.
  • Able to effectively lead an outage bridge.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SCTE-18 Emergency Alert System Messaging ISY350-VIDEO.
