Job Title: Legal Counsel III

Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel, the Legal Counsel III performs sensitive and complex legal work for the DMHC relating to health care service plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing direction and leadership pertaining to plan benefits and plan and provider payment, risk and delegation arrangements, implementation of compliance with Director's Letters, review of complex legal matters and conduct legal research in connection with the administration and regulation of health plans pursuant to the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975 (Act) and the implementation of Federal Health Care Reform.
  • Working closely with management to develop and implement new policies and procedures.
  • Providing consultation services to management and leadership.
  • Effectively communicating, both orally and in writing, with stakeholders and colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Seeking expertise in health care service plan programs, benefits, operations, reform and trends.
  • Seeking experience in health care law.
  • Background specialty in the health care industry.
  • Ability to provide leadership and assistance in developing and implementing new policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use good judgment in following established program procedures.
  • Ability to adjust to shifting priorities and meet stated deadlines.
