Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team at Builders FirstSource. In this role, you will be responsible for performing repetitive assembly operations to mass-produce products such as windows, doors, trusses, panels, or stairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble parts in a specified relationship to each other.
  • Fasten parts together using bolts, clips, screws, or cement.
  • Cut products to specific measurements as needed.
  • Remove defective products as needed.
  • Tend machines to perform force fitting or fastening operations on the assembly line.
  • Work at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Work in an environment where tasks change as varying models of product are produced.
  • Clean equipment, floors, and work areas according to safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Verbal expression ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment

The physical demands of this job include standing continuously, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. The employee is also required to walk continuously and occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds continuously, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and the employee will be required to wear ear plugs for noise protection as well as eye protection and other personal protective equipment required by the location.
