Custodian Job Description

At Meade County Board of Education, we are seeking a skilled Custodian to join our facilities maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine custodial activities, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and other facilities.
  • Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, floor strippers, and carpet shampooers.
  • Restock supplies and materials as needed.
  • Assist with special events and projects, such as summer cleaning and maintenance.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and air filters.
  • Respond to emergency cleanups and maintain records of observed maintenance and repair needs.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a variety of temperatures and environments.
