POSITION SUMMARY:
Orro is seeking a Senior / Principal Scientist in the Neurobiology division to lead and contribute to drug discovery initiatives targeting brain and spinal cord disorders.

The ideal candidate for this laboratory-focused role is a driven, collaborative, and innovative scientist who will design and execute experiments using human cell lines to propel discovery programs toward Investigational New Drug (IND) applications.

The successful applicant will exhibit clear and professional communication skills, collaborate effectively with colleagues in a complex organizational structure, and be adept at presenting scientific findings to project teams.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, conduct, and analyze RNA editing experiments in neuronal cell lines, including human induced pluripotent stem cells (hIPSC), while collaborating with pharmacology teams on in vivo models of central nervous system (CNS) diseases.

Perform laboratory experiments to assess target engagement, elucidate mechanisms of action, evaluate therapeutic efficacy, and measure functional recovery in CNS models.

Coordinate and oversee studies conducted remotely at contract research organizations (CROs) and with external partners.

Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing projects and identify new indications for exploration within the emerging CNS pipeline.

Maintain detailed lab notebooks documenting data generated during assay development, in vitro, and in vivo studies.

Mentor and guide junior team members on laboratory best practices.



QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or Pharmacology with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience, or a Master's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience.

Prior experience in designing and executing in vitro and in vivo studies related to neurodegenerative disorders such as ALS, FTD, PD, HD, AD, SCA, and targets including TDP43 and other proteinopathies is preferred.

Familiarity with a range of molecular biology techniques, including transcriptome analysis, RT-PCR, and in situ hybridization; experience in electrophysiology is advantageous.

Experience in oligonucleotide therapeutics or gene editing is a plus.

Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Ability to collaborate across departments and understand applicable regulations concerning animal care and handling.

Highly motivated with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with peers and management, and presenting scientific data to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.

Proficiency in software tools such as GraphPad Prism, electronic lab notebooks, and Microsoft Office for data analysis and figure preparation is essential.
