Description

Lincoln County Public Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in a part-time supplemental staff role. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and differentials.

Eligible to earn up to 25% more of base pay with a commitment of 4-6 shifts per month or 30% more of base pay with a commitment of 7-9 shifts per month.

Base Pay $42.00-63.66 / hour DOE

Supplemental and contracted supplemental available - May work day or night shift, work as much or as little as you like. If you are willing to make a commitment, sign a contract and receive base wage plus a percentage depending on level of commitment. (This position is not eligible for benefits)

Job Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse performs acts that require substantial knowledge, judgment, and skill based on the assessment, analysis, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and health teaching in the maintenance and promotion of health or prevention of illness or others and the support of a dignified death.

The Registered Nurse functions in an independent role when utilizing the nursing process in WAC (2) to meet the complex needs of the client. In an independent role, the Registered Nurse functions to coordinate and evaluate the care of the client and independently revises the plan and delivery of nursing care.

The Registered Nurse functions in an interdependent role when executing a medical regimen under the direction of an advanced registered nurse practitioner, licensed physician, and/or surgeon, dentist, osteopathic physician, and/or surgeon, physician assistant, osteopathic physician assistant, podiatric physician, and/or surgeon, or naturopathic physician.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  1. Obtains nursing history that is comprehensive of present condition and performs basic physical assessment, indicating knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  2. Collects data in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on the biophysical, psychosocial, self-care, health maintenance, discharge planning, and environmental needs of the patient.
  3. Supports, promotes, and follows department and facility policies, procedures, goals, and standards of care.
  4. Functions as a clinical resource to address patient/family education needs.
  5. Identifies emergent situations and responds appropriately.
  6. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and demonstrates a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the Health Care Provider.
  7. Initiates/maintains plan of care based on established priorities, essential needs, and available resources.
  8. Assesses on an ongoing basis the effectiveness of intervention and revises the plan of care as needed.
  9. Performs competently those technical skills considered basic to the scope of service.
  10. Decisions and performance reflect knowledge of facts, evidence-based research, and best practices, diseases, injuries, care required, and standard of care for the specific population on the unit.
  11. Knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration, based on the age of the patient and their clinical condition.
  12. Knowledge of cardiac monitoring; can identify arrhythmias.
  13. Knowledge and skill in operating essential equipment on all units, and completes annual proficiency skills reviews.
  14. Draws, processes, results laboratory tests, performs QC when lab personnel not available. Complete annual laboratory competency.
  15. Arranges for ambulance services or other emergency transports as required.
  16. Responsible for ER triage, admit, initial assessments, ongoing assessments, documentation, and discharge within scope of practice.
  17. Ensures ER cleaned after use and replaces necessary equipment and supplies.
  18. Knowledge and skills appropriate for all nursing units (North Wing, West Wing, ER, and Outpatient Services) and competent ability to work in all nursing units of OMHC.
  19. Works collaboratively with peer and team members, using tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations.
  20. Demonstrates the ability to make decisions, take appropriate action, and follow tasks through to completion.
  21. Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (admitting, appropriate documentation required for each patient type, physician orders, and discharge).
  22. Employee is aware of and actively promotes facility goal relative to practicing antimicrobial stewardship and prevention of antimicrobial overuse.
  23. Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services, projects, or committees as assigned or requested.
  24. Follows up with appropriate staff, patients, or other individuals regarding reported incidents, complaints, problems, and concerns.
  25. Performs other duties as assigned.
Leadership/Supervisory Skills

Demonstrates support for the Nursing Department as well as the Organizational Mission.

Is accountable for all nursing-related activities while on shift: Organizes and manages nursing activities reflecting consideration for patients' needs and the needs of facility and staff. Flexibility is maintained.

North Wing RN is the Charge Nurse during shift.

As Charge Nurse, responsible and accountable for but not limited to: Scheduling issues, Supervision of RNs, Supervision of LPNs, Supervision of NACs, and any employee that would fall under the nursing department.

Knowledge of emergent situations, appropriate notification of Health Care Provider, and appropriate use of on-call staff.

Provides training and orientation for new nursing and agency staff as needed.

Knowledgeable about the scope of practice for all nursing staff working under their supervision.

Takes leadership responsibility including planning and completing duties with minimal directions from supervisor when appropriate.

Required Education and Certification

Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current licensure in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Current BLS upon hire and for duration of employment

Current ACLS, PALS, and TNCC training and certification upon hire or within 6 months of hire.
