Job Summary:

The University of California seeks a skilled Radiology Technologist to operate digital radiological imaging equipment in accordance with guidelines outlined in Title 17. This role involves overseeing quality control procedures, enforcing radiation safety principles, and assisting cardiologists, pulmonologists, and CV surgeons during diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate digital radiological imaging equipment in accordance with guidelines outlined in Title 17.
  • Oversee the performance of quality control procedures.
  • Enforce principles of radiation safety and practice radiation safety procedures.
  • Assist cardiologists, pulmonologists, and CV surgeons during diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and OR Hybrid Room.
  • Assist professional nursing staff with patient preparation for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Prepare, operate, and ensure the proper functioning of equipment associated with these procedures.
  • Monitor and record events, including hemodynamic calculations.
  • Operate digital processing equipment and perform quality control procedures as required.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with patient transportation as needed.

Requirements:

  • California Radiology Technologist - Fluoroscopy (CRT-F) certification.
  • Registered Technologist for Radiography issued by ARRT (R.T(R)(ARRT)).
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as a licensed radiology technologist.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and new technology such as Computerized Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR).
  • Working knowledge of Radiology Information system (RIS), and Hospital Information System (HIS).
  • Ability to deal tactfully with people and develop good working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience working in interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization lab.
  • UCSD experience.

Special Conditions:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and call (diagnostic and/or surgery) and some overtime if necessary for unexpected staffing issues.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to wear lead apron.
