Position Summary

We are in search of a knowledgeable professional with a strong background in designing, testing, integrating, and deploying commercial Unmanned Systems (UxS) and counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technologies. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to defense applications, leveraging extensive operator experience and a solid understanding of defense research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead teams in the strategic design and management of projects that integrate innovative commercial solutions to address complex defense challenges.
  • Develop and implement acquisition strategies in line with established best practices, ensuring successful prototype awards and project execution.
  • Provide expert technical and operational guidance on various autonomous systems initiatives, including multi-domain systems and related technologies such as small UAS, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
  • Utilize expertise in technical systems and sensor platforms to educate users, validate technologies, and offer real-time insights during testing phases.
  • Foster relationships among defense stakeholders and commercial entities to facilitate effective program execution.
  • Identify defense challenges that can be addressed through commercial autonomous solutions, leading the acquisition and funding processes.
  • Engage in outreach and collaboration with industry, academia, and other stakeholders to enhance project outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge of defense technology policies and acquisition processes to create timely transition and scaling opportunities.
  • Understand the development of technology priorities within military services and translate these into actionable strategies for the private sector.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science) with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with 12 years of experience; or a PhD with 8 years of experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in project or program management within RDT&E and national security.
  • Experience in commercial AI or UxS technology development as a hardware/software engineer or product manager.
  • Strong understanding of defense UxS technologies and experience in rapid needs assessment and technology evaluation.
  • Prior military experience that enhances the ability to define requirements with military end users.
  • Demonstrated success in leading collaborative teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Possession of a TS clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Desired:

  • Experience curating problems and defining requirements in collaboration with military end users.
  • History of leading teams to deliver project tasks efficiently.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is typically between $150,000 and $250,000, depending on experience and location.
