Job Title: Clinical Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Join Hackensack Meridian Health as a Clinical Oncology Nurse Practitioner and be part of a team that is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with cancer.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical assessments, treatments, and clearances for patients, team members, and external customers.
  • Perform clinical care professionally, serving as a customer advocate and role model.
  • Develop and implement appropriate plans of care, ensuring that they accurately reflect NJ Board of Medical Examiners regulations, Code of Ethics, and current NJ Department of Health requirements.
  • Facilitate patient teaching and support programs for patients and employers.
  • Evaluate current protocols and standards of care, translating best practices into clinical practice.
  • Apply evidence and value-based practices to achieve positive outcomes for patients.
  • Prescribe medications and recommend over-the-counter medications as appropriate.
  • Initiate laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic tests/procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and consult effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide accurate, systematic, and organized documentation of findings, recommendations, and education.
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain documentation, developing a personal plan of development in area of clinical expertise.
  • Provide culturally diverse and educationally appropriate education in relation to patient care/needs.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, patients, and other multidisciplinary team members across the continuum.
  • Participate in policy/procedure reviews for updating with current evidence-based and value-based practices.
  • Act as a resource to staff for addressing clinical, process, and system opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment that supports the organizational mission, behavior expectations, and values.
  • Promote innovation within clinical practice by seeking opportunities to bring new clinical knowledge into practice.
  • Identify ethical care issues and coordinate interdisciplinary collaborative meetings to resolve those issues.
  • Float to various clinic locations as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing.
  • Masters Degree.
  • Maintains clinical competencies through participating in continuing educational programs and clinical practice as mandated by Board of Nursing and national certification body.
  • Experience in relevant patient care setting or as regulations dictate.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Masters Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
  • Valid Drivers license.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Certification (with Masters Degree).
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • CPR certification.
