Machinist - Mechanical Repair Specialist

About the Role
Northern Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Machinist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment while setting up and operating manual, CNC mills, lathes, and mobile machining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricating, modifying, and repairing machine components according to specifications derived from blueprints.
- Creating replacement parts from worn samples and performing mechanical repairs on pumps, gearboxes, shafts, and pulleys.
- Cleaning and lubricating machinery, dismantling equipment for thorough inspections, and executing preventive maintenance to troubleshoot and address malfunctions.
- Maintaining continuity across shifts by documenting actions and communicating needs while collaborating with various industries.
Requirements
- A strong foundation in standard practices within manufacturing environments.
- Effective problem-solving skills, especially when working under limited supervision.
- A keen attention to detail and an alert mindset to ensure safety throughout the job.
- The ability to read and comprehend labels, safety warnings, and guidelines, alongside excellent communication skills to collaborate with co-workers and supervisors.
- Mechanical aptitude and solid math skills for accurately interpreting blueprints and measurements.
- Proficiency in using general hand tools, including grinders, hammers, brooms, tape measures, and welders.
- Prior experience in a similar industry is preferred, along with a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check to obtain a TWIC card and possess a valid driver's license.

Requirements
- Able to work in tight, confined spaces, such as accessing manholes.
- Use of manufacturing equipment.
- Work in areas at times that are not environmentally controlled.
- Work in environment where harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, gases, etc. might be present and the use of a respirator may be required.
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Able to move/lift/pull/push 50 lbs.
