Librarian II

Job Summary:

The City of Boca Raton is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian II to join our team as an Instructional Services Librarian. This role will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the public library's Instructional Services programs and services offerings to the public, City employees, and library staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and direct the work of professional, paraprofessional, and/or clerical staff and volunteers.
• Maintain excellent relations with the public, City employees, and library staff through regular communication, meetings, and reporting.
• Oversee the hiring, orientation, training, supervision, scheduling, professional development, and regular evaluation of all Instructional Services professional personnel, paraprofessional personnel, and volunteers.
• Evaluate, recommend, implement, and monitor technology or tools for the public or for library staff which support Instructional Services.
• Supervise and participate in the development, preparation, and presentation of library programs, classes, events, and projects relevant to Instructional Services.
• Develop classes and train the public and library staff in research, technology, library system software, workplace software, online applications, or distance learning.
• Research, evaluate, and compile bibliographies, online content, and other reference and subject material as assigned.
• Work with the marketing team to advertise tools, classes, or programs relevant to Instructional Services programs and classes.
• Serve as needed as a member of the library leadership team to determine and implement library policy, procedures, and programs related to Instructional Services.
• Collect, analyze, and report Instructional Services statistics.
• Assist in analyzing, preparing, and administering budgets in assigned areas.
• Enforce the Rules of Conduct, library policies, and procedures and maintain order at the libraries.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in library and/or information science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association.
• Three (3) years of experience working in public or academic libraries.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Possession of a valid State of Florida Class E driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Instructional experience in a public or academic library.
