Job Title: Middle School Special Education Teacher

Freire Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a member of our special education team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all students on your caseload have access to high-quality instruction and support.

About the Role

This is a 7th and 8th Grade science co-taught classroom position. You will work closely with general education teachers to create and maintain a classroom culture of critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Co-teach and collaborate with general education teachers to create and maintain a classroom culture of critical thinking, learning, respect, and high achievement for all students.
  • Familiarize yourself with IEPs and specially designed instructional/behavioral accommodations for the students on your caseload.
  • Leverage content-specific curriculum and create learning materials to promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Establish consistent communication rhythms with families regarding individual student progress and school-related information.
  • Actively participate in professional development and collaboration with staff to support the needs of our students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Valid state teaching certification or the ability and willingness to obtain certification.
  • Strong content knowledge
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • At least 2 years of previous successful experience working with diverse student populations.
