The Advanced Respiratory Care Specialist is tasked with evaluating patients suffering from respiratory ailments, performing diagnostic assessments, formulating treatment strategies, and delivering respiratory therapy.
Talent Pool:
Nursing Support
Responsibilities:
Restores pulmonary function and alleviates discomfort by devising and administering prescribed respiratory treatments.
Ensures high-quality care by conducting pulmonary function assessments, interpreting evaluations and test outcomes, and establishing respiratory therapy plans in collaboration with physicians and based on prescriptions.
Facilitates patient adherence to treatment protocols by administering inhalants, managing mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, environmental control mechanisms, and aerosol generators.
Implements respiratory therapy interventions by performing bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with respiratory exercises, and monitoring physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and changes in blood chemistry.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the respiratory therapy regimen by observing, documenting, and assessing patient progress and suggesting necessary adjustments.Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to patient care discussions.
Ensures continuity of the therapeutic plan post-discharge by designing home exercise regimens and instructing patients, families, and caregivers on these programs.
Performs additional duties as reasonably required or assigned.Qualifications:

Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, licensed by the NC Board of Respiratory Care
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 years of experience in acute clinical settings, or completion of equivalent acute care clinical rotations
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required:
Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or RRT; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider; ACLS-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
