Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the administration of the financial aid program by reviewing financial aid applications, performing need analysis, determining eligibility, and awarding financial aid program funds in accordance with Federal and USNH policies/regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review financial aid applications for accuracy and make corrections as needed.
  • Perform verification and confirm eligibility for financial aid.
  • Develop financial aid offers, including federal, state, and institutional aid, using professional judgment and knowledge of federal and state regulations, and institutional guidelines.
  • Reconcile all federal loan accounts on a monthly basis and assist with annual audit of awards.
  • Advise students and parents via phone, email, or in person, regarding the financial aid process, eligibility determination, and federal and state regulations and institutional guidelines.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience in financial aid administration, or Associate's degree plus 3 years experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Office of Education policies/procedures governing federal aid programs and need analysis procedures.
  • Ability to function under time restraints and in pressure situations.
  • Some familiarity with computerized record systems for financial aid.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis but also be capable of working collaboratively as part of the larger team to ensure financial aid packages are delivered timely and accurately.
