Position Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee and manage the operations at a Fleet Services maintenance facility. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient, accurate, and ongoing repairs to both light and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as specialized equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Task Assignment**: Allocate tasks to technicians and monitor their progress to ensure timely completion.

2. **Troubleshooting**: Identify the root causes of vehicle malfunctions and recommend appropriate corrective measures.

3. **Work Order Management**: Generate work orders and requests for vehicles requiring service, including repair estimates.

4. **Quality Assurance**: Review work orders for accuracy and completeness.

5. **Procurement**: Prepare Purchase Orders and/or Requisitions as necessary.

6. **Vehicle Inspection**: Conduct inspections of vehicles before, during, and after maintenance work.

7. **Vendor Coordination**: Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for various repair needs.

8. **Emergency Response**: Coordinate and dispatch service vehicles as required.

9. **Technician Training**: Instruct technicians on proper work methods and safety practices.

10. **Service Quality Program**: Implement a service quality initiative, which may involve test-driving vehicles to diagnose issues or confirm proper repairs.

11. **Training Needs Assessment**: Identify and coordinate training opportunities for maintenance technicians at the service center.

12. **Facility Maintenance**: Ensure a clean and safe working environment.

13. **Manual Training**: Train mechanics in the use of various service manuals and manufacturer training resources.

14. **Safety Compliance**: Ensure adherence to safety protocols as outlined in the Employee Safety Handbook and company policies.

15. **Facility Security**: Responsible for securing the maintenance facility and related areas.

16. **Personnel Management**: Manage hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations of staff, ensuring compliance with company policies.

17. **Disciplinary Actions**: Enforce employee discipline in accordance with established guidelines.

18. **Additional Duties**: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required; G.E.D. accepted.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in vehicle maintenance, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory role.
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent preferred, to be obtained within 18 months of hire.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is mandatory.
- Valid CDL-B required within 60 days of employment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Proficient in diagnostic skills and quality control principles.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Fleet Services applications and tools is advantageous.

Independent Judgment

Decisions are guided by company policies and regulations, with independent judgment exercised in resolving operational issues and managing staff effectively. Work is subject to periodic review by a supervisor who provides general guidance as needed.
