Senior IAM Engineer

Overview

The Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the technology that supports the overall IAM strategy. This program is essential for managing user identities, accounts, credentials, and system access for all users within the organization.

The Engineer is tasked with maintaining existing technologies such as Okta Verify/SSO, Microsoft/Azure AD, and CyberArk, ensuring their effective operation and integration.

Collaboration with the IAM Manager, senior technical staff, and various IT and business units is key to delivering services that align with the organization's current and future IAM requirements.


Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with the IAM Manager to develop and manage the technical controls and activities of the IAM function, including planning, testing, reporting, and service delivery.

- Ensure that all current solutions are configured correctly and are providing optimal value to the organization.

- Review and enhance existing documentation, including procedures and knowledge base articles utilized by the Service Desk.

- Engage with other IT engineers to ensure seamless delivery of IAM services.

- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of IAM concepts such as directory services, SSO, federation, MFA, provisioning, and access certification.

- Analyze, design, implement, and maintain all layers of IAM applications, including authorization, authentication, account management, and provisioning.

- Drive discussions on technology strategy in alignment with business needs, simplifying complex technical materials for non-technical audiences.

- Areas of expertise should include fine-grained access control, policy-driven security, Identity Governance, Access Management, and privileged access management.

- Provide support for requirements gathering, project management, and delivery of identity platforms like SailPoint, Okta, and Saviynt.

- Serve as the primary contact for information security and IAM policy-related inquiries.

- Address vulnerabilities, pentest findings, and audit issues promptly.

- Support Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) initiatives.

- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

- Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions, sharing insights with peers and management.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in technical IAM roles, including tool selection, implementation, and operations, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.

- Hands-on experience with IAM solutions such as BeyondTrust, Delinea, Okta, SailPoint, Saviynt, and Active Role Server.

- Proficiency in Linux/Unix, Windows, scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Perl), SQL, LDAP, and web services.

- Expertise in Microsoft Active Directory (Azure AD) and GPO management.

- Familiarity with IT Security and Governance Risk and Compliance functions.

- Knowledge of IT management frameworks like COBIT and ITIL.

- Proven experience in developing and supporting IAM services within a larger IT framework.


Preferred:
- Experience in the Legal or Financial Services sectors.

- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, C/C++, Python, or JavaScript.

- Experience in initiating new technologies and delivering high-level services.

- Ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and present information clearly.

- Relevant industry training or certifications.
