Job Summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Nurse to join our Student Wellness Center team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary health team, you will provide direct primary health care to patients, collaborating with consulting physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and holistic care.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations, gynecological or episodic health assessments, and develop patient care plans within clinical nursing practice and medical care protocols.
  • Takes patient histories and conducts physical examinations; screens patients to determine the need for hospital admission, making referrals to other disciplines as indicated.
  • Orders and schedules laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explains necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Evaluates outcomes of care delivered to patients and initiates changes accordingly.
  • Participates in development of collaborative practice arrangements.
  • Assumes accountability for patient care in making decisions, prescribing appropriate medications as set forth in the delegation of prescriptive authority, prescribing appropriate treatments, delegating tasks, and maintaining a comfortable environment for the patient.
Requirements
  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required.
  • Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
