As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Registered Dietitian I delivers comprehensive nutritional care to patients across all age groups, from infancy to adulthood, who present with diverse medical conditions. This role involves assessing patient diagnoses and formulating tailored nutritional care strategies based on established dietetic standards and regulations. The Dietitian also serves as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues, contributing to problem-solving efforts, engaging in shared governance, and fostering clinical leadership skills within designated areas. This position requires a degree of independence and the ability to manage complex cases while contributing to various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts thorough assessments of patient nutritional needs and develops individualized care plans in accordance with dietetic standards.
  2. Collaborates with the medical team to ensure optimal nutritional support for patients.
  3. Identifies and addresses nutrition-related challenges, seeking assistance for complex cases and issuing therapeutic diet orders within the scope of practice.
  4. Monitors and evaluates patient progress regularly.
  5. Facilitates effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, relaying essential information to management as needed.
  6. Provides education and support to patients, families, and staff regarding dietary practices and nutritional information during discharge or outpatient consultations.
  7. Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring the availability of necessary nutritional resources and coordinating with dietetic interns for peer review of assessments and diet orders.
  8. Maintains accurate documentation of all relevant nutritional data in patient medical records, including daily charges and time spent on each case.
  9. Participates in departmental training, case studies, and continuing education opportunities, documenting credits in CDR format.
  10. Engages actively in Medical Team rounds.
  11. Performs additional duties as assigned.
