Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Livestock Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our veterinary services department, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing animal health within our wean-to-market operations across the Midwest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Address farm-level health concerns and develop actionable solutions
  • Collaborate with our Technical Services team to design and implement strategies for improving animal health, production efficiency, and biosecurity
  • Perform farm assessments and evaluations to ensure compliance with health-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Train farm teams on proper SOP implementation to support health and welfare objectives
Process Improvement & Biosecurity
  • Work alongside production management to enhance processes related to health and biosecurity
  • Provide input on and execute farm-specific action plans in response to health challenges
Communication & Collaboration
  • Maintain open communication with farm personnel and leadership to ensure alignment on health initiatives and protocols
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine with eligibility to practice veterinary medicine in the United States
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (time in veterinary college counts toward experience)
  • Demonstrated understanding of diseases and disorders affecting swine welfare
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficiency with standard computer tools; experience with Business Computer System or similar platforms is a plus

Other Requirements

This role requires:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Safe lifting techniques and adherence to physical safety standards
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Must wear company-provided PPE and adhere to all safety guidelines when visiting facilities
  • Biosecurity Compliance: Follow biosecurity protocols, including required showers and use of company-provided clothing and footwear
  • Animal Welfare Commitment: Abide by the company's Animal Welfare Policy at all times
Work Environment

This is a remote position requiring at least 10 domestic trips per year to Midwest operations. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
