The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at Slack is tasked with the meticulous management, maintenance, and scaling of our product infrastructure to ensure reliability and high availability for our users. Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, develop, and sustain infrastructure using Terraform for Quip and Slack offerings.
  • Assess, implement, and uphold top-tier tools and methodologies to ensure a secure and observable infrastructure environment.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to collaborate with engineering teams on scaling and managing cost structures in line with infrastructure usage.
  • Leverage your strong desire to minimize manual work to enhance product and infrastructure reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (including VPC/Subnet design, IAM, WAF, ECR, ECS, EKS, RDS, Aurora).
  • In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration.
  • Proficient in Terraform.
  • Experience with in-memory data storage solutions.
  • A professional background in development or systems, with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing internal tools, familiarity with the software development lifecycle, and a focus on automation to reduce manual tasks.
  • A collaborative team player who is approachable and technically skilled.
  • A self-motivated problem solver, driven by a commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
  • Passionate about identifying efficiencies that lower costs and enhance team and organizational sustainability.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (ECS, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • A solid understanding of computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with Redis clustering.
  • Experience in implementing single sign-on solutions.
  • Experience in developing tools utilizing Lambda.
  • Experience in managing Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Familiarity with Slack and Quip, with a desire to enhance their functionalities.
