About the Role:


As a seasoned Electrical Systems Design Manager, you will lead engineering services for energy infrastructure projects across the Western and Southwestern United States. At SPEC Services Inc., we pride ourselves on delivering effective system solutions and exceptional client service.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead engineering teams in designing medium and low voltage power systems, grounding, lighting, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Collaborate with clients to develop project proposals and business development strategies
  • Mentor junior engineers and design staff to ensure knowledge transfer and growth
  • Develop data sheets and specifications for electrical equipment, including PDCs, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, starters, and control panels
  • Perform complex electrical calculations using ETAP or SKM software, including short circuit, load flow, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash studies
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control of engineering work products
  • Participate in project startup, performance testing, and troubleshooting
  • Contribute to project planning, cost control, and scheduling
  • Review and develop TIC estimates
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with project team members and clients
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate vendor quotations, and conduct technical bid analyses
  • Review vendor documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications, and calculations


Requirements:


To succeed in this role, you must possess:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • California Professional Engineer license
  • At least 15 years of experience, with 10 years in utility or energy industries and 5 years in supervisory/management roles
  • Experience with field start-up and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering, NEC, API 500, and working electrical construction experience
  • Consulting or EPC experience with design and engineering capabilities
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, BlueBeam, ETAP, SKM, Microsoft Excel, and Word
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
