Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the quality of both in-process and final products within the designated program or area, ensuring compliance with customer and organizational quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates design documentation, operational guidelines, process protocols, testing methodologies, procurement records, quality manuals, and inspection reports to confirm adherence to quality requirements set by the organization and its clients.
  • Assists in the contract evaluation process.
  • Interprets standards such as AS9100C, ISO9001:2008, ASQR-01, along with other relevant customer, material, or process specifications.
  • Conducts internal audits, with a preference for experience in AS9100 internal audits.
  • Provides quality support to the engineering team during new product introductions and analyzes nonconforming components.
  • Collaborates with the customer service team to address and resolve customer concerns.
  • Responds to customer Corrective Action Requests (CAR) with effective process enhancements.
  • Engages with customers to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Supports the procurement team in sourcing materials, managing special processes, and ensuring compliance with approved supplier criteria.
  • Develops quality metrics and analyzes quality trends to reduce process risks and implement improvements.
  • Monitors and evaluates supplier performance.
  • Conducts Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action using methodologies such as 8D and 5 Whys.
  • Leads and participates in Quality Clinic initiatives.
  • Maintains quality documentation to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Implements advanced inspection tools and technologies (e.g., CMM, vision systems).
  • Contributes to continuous improvement projects.
  • Communicates quality requirements to suppliers to prevent the delivery of nonconforming products.
  • Works directly with suppliers to address and mitigate nonconforming product issues.
Qualifications:

A four-year degree (or equivalent experience of 5 years in inspection) along with 2 to 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Proficient understanding of statistical process control.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of the company’s quality management system and varying contractual quality requirements.
  • Ability to validate inspections, interpret GD&T blueprints, and perform mathematical calculations, including trigonometry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to motivate team members and advocate for effective problem-solving solutions.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Occasional requirements to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and climb.
