The primary focus is on continuous enhancement and the integration of improvement methodologies, technical principles, and engineering practices, while identifying best practices and acting as a catalyst for change to elevate results within the assigned facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and contribute to 5S initiatives, failure analysis, results management, Quality Improvement Systems (QIS), Six Sigma, and other process enhancement methodologies.
  • Support all safety activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to articulate ideas, provide constructive feedback, resolve conflicts, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop positive relationships with employees to foster credibility and motivate teams.

Advisory Role: This position serves as an advisory capacity in material manufacturing processes without direct reports. It involves coaching production and maintenance personnel, as well as plant management, while primary accountability lies with higher supervisory levels.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess a four-year degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Material Science, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, particularly with standardization and production quality methods. A robust understanding of steel manufacturing techniques and heavy mill machinery is essential. Previous experience in scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, maintenance, finishing, and shipping/warehouse operations is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of business systems and complex technical processes, with the ability to train and coach employees effectively.

Additional Responsibilities: Assist location management with the Annual Action Plan and the administration of established policies, procedures, and processes. Responsible for Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects and the analysis of project data. This role encompasses a moderate scope of responsibility for material manufacturing processes and the complexity of equipment used in production, along with budgetary oversight related to CAPEX expenditures. Coaching employees on QIS improvement methodologies is also a key aspect of this position.
