Fleet Service Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Service Technician to join our team at the City of Midland, TX. As a key member of our General Services Department, you will be responsible for performing tire installation, repair, and general maintenance on vehicles and machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remove and install wheels and tires from vehicles and equipment, inspect wheels for any wear or defects, repair flats and balance tires.
  • Respond to requests for towing and service calls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for all light and heavy equipment, including engine oil and filter changes, transmission, fuel, hydraulic filters, and oils.
  • Clean and maintain shop facilities, equipment, tools, and grounds.
  • Inspect vehicles for state inspection sticker.
  • Open work orders, charge out parts, issue parts, and close work orders as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Be on call on a rotating schedule.
  • Be willing to train in data entry using department program (AssetWorks).
Physical and Environmental Conditions:

The successful candidate must have the ability to sit, stand, and transport themselves from building to building. They must be able to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites, work in extreme temperatures, bend, kneel, twist, and climb to make repairs and perform heavy lifting of machinery and equipment. The employee will work with mechanical and electrical hazards while repairing vehicles and equipment.
