Automation Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our team in Midland, TX. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems for our oil and gas clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement control systems and DCS/PLC/SCADA programming for oil and gas projects.
- Develop system specifications, architecture, and design documents.
- Prepare routine sketches and perform engineering calculations for project assignments.
- Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
- Interact with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants to ensure effective project execution.
- Track and maintain awareness of project schedules and budgets.
- Adhere to company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures.
- Comply with all company and client health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards and regulations.
- Actively participate in company and client hazard identification and observation programs.
- Interact with the drafting/design group to develop and review engineering drawings.
- Visit job sites to evaluate site conditions and project requirements.
- Visit vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements and specifications.
- Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions, as well as bid tabulations, associated with equipment purchases.
- Perform basic checking of engineering drawings and mathematical calculations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
- Bachelor's Degree from an ABET-accredited institution preferred.
- Experience configuring control systems on oil and gas projects.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Understanding of automation systems, including PLC, DCS, SCADA/HMI, SIS, electrical design, and instrumentation.
- Design and industrial IT experience.
- Direct experience with configuration of various automation systems, including development code, ability to specify hardware, and develop/modify graphics.
- Automation system training/certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of instrument and electrical design codes (ISA, NEC, API, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to find solutions for or deal proactively with work-related problems.
- Ability to comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Individuals should be capable of understanding the plant process in the oil and gas industry and basic unit operations to assist with the design of process control strategies.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
