Job Summary

The Child Day Care Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Booth Memorial Child Development Center. This includes providing leadership, staff supervision, and overall instruction and care for the children.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the officers to promote and implement the Christian component between the center and the corps program.
  2. Ensure the center is fully enrolled and each family contract is up to date for inspection from licensing.
  3. Report to the Administration regularly regarding the program's progress.
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the overall program.
  5. Be responsible for the care and safety of the children in the childcare center.
  6. Develop and implement a plan to add new Infant Care program for up to 12 infants, and expand CCTR Toddler program by up to 12 slots.
  7. Hold quarterly parents meeting to discuss issues with the parents.
  8. Work closely with teachers to develop quality lesson plans and to order materials needed.
  9. Keep monthly reports, forms and budgets up to date.
  10. Administer the Child Development Center in accordance with the funding and program proposal submitted to the State Department of Education.
  11. Review and approve employee timecards each Monday morning.
  12. Review and approve menu plans submitted by the cook.
  13. Perform classroom duties as needed during an absence of a regular teacher or other staff member.
  14. Serve as Liaise to Mills College, Merritt College, The School District, Cal-Works, City of Oakland, Kidango and all other partners.
  15. Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports required by CA Department of Education CSPP State Pre-School Program and Dept of Social Services General ChildCare CCTR programs.
  16. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and reviews of staff at the end of the probation period and annually.
  17. Responsible for conference reports and warning for staff who are not fulfilling their job requirements.
  18. Coordinate paperwork and program for Alameda County First Five Program QRIS Funding.
  19. Assist Administration and officers with annual Continued Funding Applications and other applications for funding as requested.

Requirements

  1. Associates Degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood development or education including 24 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
  2. Three years of related experience in the field of childcare, including one year of Site Supervisor experience.
  3. Applicant must have at least three semester or equivalent quarter units of education in Administration or staff relations.
  4. Must have a current and valid site supervisor permit.
  5. Teaching permit preferential.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
  • 10% travel required.
