POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is dedicated to fostering a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally suitable classroom atmosphere for preschool-aged children, while actively promoting family engagement to enhance readiness for school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Curriculum Delivery
- Prepare and present weekly lesson outlines two weeks ahead, aligned with the organizational curriculum.
- Ensure the classroom setting is suitable for development, inclusive, and addresses the
social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development of students. - Clearly communicate classroom rules and expectations.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques.
- Effectively implement the designated curricula.
- Conduct daily evaluations and observations.
- Follow and maintain a structured daily schedule.
- Apply strategies from the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS).
- Meet the diverse needs of each child, including those with IEPs and behavioral plans.
- Assess student progress three times annually.
2. Family Engagement
- Utilize Learning Genie for effective communication with parents.
- Conduct two home visits and two parent meetings each year.
- Engage with parents as per IEP guidelines.
- Review newsletters prior to supervisor approval.
3. Safe and Clean Learning Environment
- Maintain the required student-teacher ratio.
- Ensure safe transitions within the classroom.
- Perform daily safety checks and submit monthly reports to the Health Manager.
- Follow cleaning protocols to uphold a healthy educational setting.
- Inspect the environment daily to ensure safety standards are met.
4. Documentation and Record Keeping
- Complete and verify timecards bi-monthly.
- Submit Home Visit Tracking Forms on a monthly basis.
- Request mileage reimbursement monthly if applicable.
- Complete necessary HR documentation and forms.
- Maintain student records for all program areas.
5. Recruitment Activities
- Engage in at least two recruitment events each academic year.
- Support ongoing marketing initiatives.
6. Volunteer Management
- Demonstrate developmentally appropriate practices for classroom volunteers.
- Assist volunteers in understanding and adhering to classroom expectations.
7. Supervision of Support Staff
- Ensure classroom protocols are comprehended and followed.
- Notify the Education Manager of any coaching or training needs.
8. Adaptability and Professional Growth
- Identify areas for process enhancement and implement best practices.
- Adapt to organizational changes and contribute to strategic planning.
- Pursue opportunities for professional development.
- Maintain or update relevant certifications.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lift up to 40 pounds as necessary.
- Ensure the safety of children through visual and auditory monitoring.
- Pass initial and periodic health examinations.
- Share meals with children as part of the educational experience.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Adhere to established agency policies, safety protocols, and applicable regulations.
SUPERVISION:
Supervision is provided by the Education Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of two years preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
• PA Teaching Certification.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
