The Speech-Language Pathologist is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for assessing and treating speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. This role requires a strong foundation in speech-language pathology, with a focus on pediatric populations.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients to identify communication disorders and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Implement evidence-based therapy interventions to improve communication skills and promote independence.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and coordinate discharge plans.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and educational opportunities to advance the department and profession.
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate records.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
- A Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) certification.
- Licensure in Speech Pathology (Michigan) or temporary license during the CFY.
- Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly in areas such as aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, dysphagia, laryngectomy, stuttering, and voice disorders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
