Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our team in a multifaceted engineering role. This position entails extensive collaboration with suppliers and customers, conducting thorough reviews and analyses at both component and system levels, and providing essential test support throughout the development, qualification, and production phases of marine power systems, including motors, generators, and gas turbine enclosures.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting independent verification and review of Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, and Mechanical Packaging.
- Evaluating and recommending design strategies to fulfill production needs for new or enhanced products.
- Investigating and resolving product or process challenges.
- Providing guidance and clarification to suppliers during the assembly of large motors.
- Assessing and addressing non-conformances throughout the manufacturing process.
- Engaging in technical reviews of supplier processes and proposed changes.
- Acting as the cognizant technical engineer for supplier components and subsystems.
- Offering on-site support for qualification testing of large motors.
- Conducting vendor visits to monitor progress and resolve issues.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams to successfully complete technical projects within established timelines and budgets.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as ANSYS, Unigraphics/NX, Solidworks/Creo, Matlab, Simulink, Flux, and SPEED.
- Secret level clearance and U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will also have:
- Experience executing programs for the U.S. military.
- Knowledge of industrial and military design specifications.
- Experience in manufacturing electric machines, electric motor/drive systems, or other rotating equipment.
- Specific expertise with large (1MW+) permanent magnet electric machines.
