The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and service, with a focus on developing and enhancing our Native American and Indigenous Studies program.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Native American and Indigenous Studies, including courses on urban Indigenous experience, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, Decolonial Studies, California Indian Studies, and History and Policy.
- Develop and maintain a research program that prioritizes place-based learning and decolonizing methodologies.
- Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and advising students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement interdisciplinary programs and projects.
- Ph.D. in American Indian, Native American, Indigenous, Ethnic Studies, or a related field.
- Record of publishing in scholarly journals and community engagement in American Indian, Indigenous, and Native American Studies.
- Evidence of ability to communicate Native American and Indigenous Studies epistemological frameworks.
- Potential for effective teaching and research using a variety of methodologies.
- Demonstrated outstanding teaching experience at the undergraduate level of a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated experience working with tribes and Indigenous communities.
- Evidence of a commitment to Indigenous community-based research.
- Evidence of ability to build interdisciplinary, cross-departmental programs and projects.
