Position Overview

Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, dedicated to delivering accurate and timely news to Asian nations where free press is restricted. We are in search of a talented and innovative professional specializing in search engine optimization and AI-driven content enhancement.

As a key member of the audience engagement team, your role will involve crafting and executing strategies that boost the visibility and effectiveness of our content across search engines and AI platforms. You will assess RFA's current editorial and technical SEO practices, optimize website content, and enhance SEO efforts to secure high rankings in search results. Additionally, you will analyze the interplay between RFA's content and emerging AI platforms, such as voice-search assistants and chatbots, offering strategic recommendations to expand RFA's measurable outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess current search engine indexing and propose enhancements
  • Conduct thorough keyword analysis to inform content strategies
  • Enhance technical SEO components, including site structure, loading speed, and mobile usability
  • Work closely with the newsroom through regular communication and training to ensure the integration of SEO best practices into content creation
  • Develop strategies to counteract potential traffic declines as search engines evolve towards AI-generated summaries
  • Organize content for optimal indexing and retrieval by search and AI systems
  • Identify new avenues to utilize AI for improved user engagement and content strategy
  • Create and maintain documentation for SEO and AI content optimization methodologies and best practices
  • Advocate for audience needs and ensure they are prioritized in strategic planning and content development
  • Stay updated on industry trends, audience preferences, and digital media advancements to provide insights and recommendations to editorial and management teams
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in SEO and content optimization with a solid grasp of search engine algorithms and ranking criteria
  • Expertise in technical SEO, including site structure, mobile optimization, and page speed enhancements
  • Proficient in using SEO tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and platforms, including voice-search assistants and chatbots
  • Ability to perform keyword research and analyze extensive data sets
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in relation to SEO
  • Experience in keeping abreast of the latest developments in SEO and AI technologies
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adept at clarifying insights for stakeholders at all levels
  • Capability to collaborate across departments in a multilingual newsroom and with teams across various time zones
Salary: $45-$60/Hour. Expected to work 40 Hours/Week.
