Department Overview

UNDP serves as a leading organization for sustainable development within the UN system, acting as a catalyst for collective action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the GPN, the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) is tasked with formulating relevant policies and guidance to enhance the outcomes of UNDP's Strategic Plan. BPPS staff provide technical support to Country Offices, advocate for UNDP's corporate messages, and engage in multi-stakeholder dialogues, including public-private partnerships and government-civil society discussions.

As part of the SDG Financing initiative, UNDP's Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) leverages a wealth of expertise and partnerships to advance the SDGs and implement UNDP's Strategic Plan. The Hub is integral to both BPPS and the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA) within the GPN.

In the role of Graphic Designer within the SFH team, you will play a crucial part in establishing a cohesive design language that effectively communicates UNDP's sustainable finance services. You will be responsible for developing visual assets for the SFH in collaboration with the communications team.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the SFH Strategy and Knowledge Specialist, the Graphic Designer will:
  • Develop a consistent visual identity for SFH products, ensuring alignment with UNDP's corporate branding and design standards.
  • Create knowledge products, presentations, and communication materials.
  • Design infographics and social media templates to support SFH communication efforts.
  • Produce videos and animations for events, the SFH website, social media, and other platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of the new SFH website in collaboration with the communications team and web development partners.
The incumbent may also undertake additional responsibilities as necessary for the efficient operation of the Office and the Organization.

Working Arrangement

The Graphic Designer will report directly to the SFH Strategy and Knowledge Specialist and will collaborate closely with the SFH Communications Team and other UNDP colleagues on specific projects.

Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree (Master's) in graphic design or related fields is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with two additional years of relevant experience will be considered.
Experience:
  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience in graphic design (with a Master's degree) or a minimum of 2 years (with a Bachelor's degree).
Required Skills:
  • Proficient in graphic design software such as Adobe Design Premium, Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator, After Effects, Animate, or similar tools.
  • Experience in video production is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design from concept to published product, including knowledge of printing processes and color management.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in designing reports and communication materials in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Familiarity with updating content on Drupal-based websites is advantageous.
  • Previous experience with the United Nations, particularly UNDP, is highly desirable, along with an understanding of UNDP's branding policies.
  • Experience in designing newsletters using Mailchimp is preferred.
Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in English is required.
