Residential Care Specialist

The Residential Coordinator is a critical role within DePaul Community Resources, responsible for providing quality services that meet the unique needs and interests of individuals with developmental disabilities. This position requires a strong understanding of human services and the ability to advocate for individuals in their care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide case management and advocacy services to individuals with developmental disabilities
- Oversee sponsored residential homes and provide support services to individuals on assigned caseloads
- Assess risk and protective factors, and identify strengths and needs of providers and individuals served
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field or a related area of study
- Minimum of one year of professional experience with the ID/DD population
- Personal experience may be considered
What to Expect:
A Residential Coordinator's first few weeks are filled with initial training, including live and pre-recorded sessions, with subsequent knowledge and skills tests to develop and assess competencies. Training and development are intensive during the first six months of employment, covering topics such as Home and Community Based Services, Human Rights, and Medication Administration.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Residential Coordinators must be highly organized, managing scheduled meetings, training, home visits, and appointments, while also prioritizing tasks based on urgency and due dates. They will review progress notes and complete monthly paperwork to accurately complete billing for their assigned caseload.
Special Requirements:
- Current DMV driving record with satisfactory results
- Drug and alcohol screening with satisfactory results
- Documentation of a PPD test, chest x-ray, or screening indicating the absence of TB
- Criminal and child protective services background report
