Job Overview

Position Title: Assistant Teacher

Program: Pre-K Counts Program

Supervisor: Director of Early Learning Center

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Purpose: The Assistant Teacher plays a crucial role in supporting the planning and delivery of enriching educational experiences while fostering a nurturing environment for children enrolled in the Day Care Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and supervision of engaging learning activities that promote the intellectual, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Support the introduction of foundational concepts in literacy, numeracy, and social skills, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring that all materials and resources are readily available and in good condition.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of field trips and special events, accompanying children and educators on these excursions.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and program administrators to enhance child development strategies and optimize learning outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through training sessions and workshops to improve teaching practices.
  • Foster relationships with families, providing updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns that may arise.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to early childhood education, including safety standards and staff qualifications.

  • Ability to assist in curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Effective communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and reports related to student attendance and progress.
Qualifications
  • Current Preschool Childhood Development Associate credential or equivalent educational background.
  • Associate's Degree in any relevant field.
  • Successful completion of the Highly Qualified Exam.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to perform typical physical tasks associated with early childhood education, including lifting and carrying materials as well as moving between various locations.
