Job Title: Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Children's Receiving Home. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our clients.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the LVN supervisor, the Medical Assistant will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our clinic. This includes providing excellent customer service, referring callers to the appropriate departments, making appointments for patients, and assisting with client and staff documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and clients via phone, email, and in-person
  • Refer callers to the appropriate departments and make appointments for patients according to established protocols
  • Assist with client and staff documentation, including obtaining proper documentation for all youth at CRH
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to provide proper care to patients/clients
  • Perform day-to-day administrative functions, including word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones, and data entry
  • Coordinate with pharmacy on billing, insurance, and medications clarifications
  • Communicate directly with Physicians, Nurses, pharmacists, and social workers via phone, email, or fax
  • Schedule client's medical and dental appointments within 30 days of placement per Title 22 regulations
  • Maintain Outlook appointment calendar for residential and psychiatry departments
  • Complete appointment paperwork before and after appointments
  • Act as a liaison for the psychiatrist, client, and family members
  • Adhere to all clinic policies on safety and security
Requirements:
  • Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate is required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • At least 21 years of age
  • First Aid certification course completion before start of employment
  • CPR certification within the first six weeks of employment
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification courses completion within the first three months of employment
  • Maintain TCI, CPR, First Aid, and BBP Certification throughout employment
  • Complete online Mandated Reporter Training within the first week of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers effectively
  • Ability to read, speak, understand, analyze, and interpret documents in the English language
  • Ability to write professional/clinical reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to relate to children and families in a positive manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families
  • Skill to accurately assess clients' needs
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent development and behavior
  • Knowledge of child abuse issues and substance abuse issues
  • Knowledge of team, family, and group dynamics
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory issues related to the operation and delivery of support services to clients and families
  • Strong crisis intervention skills
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team approach with diverse sectors of the community
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and talk or hear. Fine motor skills such as typing, the use of a computer mouse, and telephone handset are required. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Hourly Wage Range:

$19.00
