Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

Computer Merchant, Ltd., The is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and design to software agile development teams, and other Engineering personnel. You will perform technical analyses and define how the system works, creating use cases, system capability and feature designs, defining system interfaces and acceptance criteria.

The ideal candidate will have experience in agile software development activities, including system level design specification and integration test and verification activities (full SE life cycle). You will also have domain experience in IC GEOINT, including familiarity with common GEOINT still imagery data formats. Additionally, you will have experience in development of ICDs, APIs, and system specifications as a primary author.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams to design and develop software
  • Assist in providing technical information and clarification during the entire software development lifecycle
  • Perform solution decomposition from customer epics to capabilities to features to stories according to SAFe Agile practices
  • Apply systems engineering expertise to feature designs to reduce overall risk to the software development effort
  • Engage with SMEs from other disciplines to fully understand the solution and document the designs

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations; or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 6 years' experience
  • An active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Demonstrated system engineering and technical experience with software systems development
  • Experience in agile software development activities, including system level design specification and integration test and verification activities (full SE life cycle)
  • Domain experience in IC GEOINT, including familiarity with common GEOINT still imagery data formats
  • Experience in development of ICDs, APIs, and system specifications as a primary author

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with streaming data formats including Full Motion Video and Moving Target Indicator data
  • Strong communications skills to support technical exchange meetings and design briefings
  • Engineering experience working in the full software development lifecycle using Agile methodology that ensures high quality software is built and released to end-users quickly and within cost and schedule parameters
  • Experience using MBSE processes and tools to capture systems design and elaboration in Cameo or similar tools
  • Domain experience with active data types supported by NSGPDDs
  • Thorough understanding of the 12 Factor App concepts for service development
  • Strong experience with Confluence as a communications medium
