As a Youth Residential Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in fulfilling our mission. You will have numerous opportunities for professional growth and to positively impact the lives of our residents, including but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor students, modeling appropriate behavior, redirecting when necessary, and managing crises effectively.
  • Implement social and recreational activities, engaging residents as part of the programming.
  • Provide care and psychosocial education as outlined in each individual's treatment plan.
  • Deliver direct services to residents, including assistance with daily living skills, meal preparation, hygiene practices, and recreational activities.
  • Enhance students' social skills, interpersonal skills, and coping mechanisms through the development of respectful and positive relationships.
  • Act as a positive role model to foster growth and build trust.
  • Encourage polite communication skills and respect for authority.
  • Serve as the first line of support to provide emotional stability during crises.
  • Help students discover effective coping mechanisms for managing stress and crisis situations.
  • Facilitate the residential routine with intention and thoughtful planning.
  • Attend work punctually and manage time effectively.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings.
  • Plan and execute meaningful programming relevant to life skills.
  • Internalize the daily schedule and understand programmatic rituals and routines.
  • Encourage students to take responsibility for their environment and themselves.
  • Apply knowledge of risk factors, protective factors, and mental health in executing the program's residential treatment model.
  • Understand the effects of trauma and other risk factors.
  • Participate in the program's residential treatment model.
  • Seek specific information about students through Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs), training, and assessments.
  • Practice negotiation, cooperation, and collaboration with students towards program goals.
  • Document service delivery and behavior-related incidents professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records including chore logs and incident reports.
  • Actively seek professional improvement and mentorship.
  • Manage personal stress effectively.
  • Establish rapport with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Connect program policies to daily operations and decision-making.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree or 60 college credits.
  • OR two years of full-time experience working with children.
  • OR a combination of credits in human services and experience with children totaling two years.
  • OR seven years of parenting experience.

Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license preferred and must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Satisfactory completion of background checks.
