Responsibilities:
Job Summary


The Natural Gas Pipeline Technician plays a crucial role in the construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution systems.

This position involves various fusing tasks related to new construction, as well as the repair and maintenance of existing gas utility lines and associated systems/equipment. Responsibilities include fusing pipe casings, vault lids, and pipe fittings, joining metal components, working on hot gas mains, repairing damaged parts, filling gaps, and fabricating specialized components and apparatus.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting the crew with the handling and fusing of gas pipes.
  • Fusing pipes that are either excavated or drilled underground.
  • Ensuring that all fusions adhere to quality standards.
  • Maintaining tools in optimal working condition.
  • Locating utilities manually using shovels and probes.
  • Managing inventory on the service vehicle.
  • Training other employees on proper fusing techniques.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Minimum

High school diploma or equivalent.

At least 1 year of experience in gas pipeline work.

Operator Qualification (OQ)

Preferred

Class A CDL.

2 or more years of experience in gas pipeline work.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in a field environment.

The role frequently requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting.

Additionally, work may be performed in adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.


The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Vision clarity at distances of 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships.

Precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors are essential.
