Job Overview:

This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, dependable, and cost-effective fleet of vehicles, including ground support equipment and road vehicles. The individual in this position ensures the proper utilization and maintenance of physical assets, aids in preventing equipment malfunctions, manages expenses, oversees vendor relationships, collaborates with automotive technicians and internal stakeholders, and conducts regular audits of equipment and facilities. This role monitors the maintenance of fleet vehicles and implements strategies to ensure automotive cost efficiency by identifying trends, tracking key expense metrics, and executing cost-reduction initiatives. Additionally, this position supervises the mechanics within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organizes preventative maintenance inspections, reviews outcomes, oversees repairs, and conducts vehicle audits to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and aesthetic standards.
  • Investigates equipment or vehicle system failures to identify root causes and resolve issues, coordinating repairs with both internal and external teams.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory levels (e.g., parts, tires, etc.) to support operational processes.
  • Follows purchasing limits, expense approval protocols, and equipment disposal policies to stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Reviews and authorizes automotive expenditures.
  • Identifies employee training requirements to develop continuous improvement plans.
  • Conducts performance assessments and addresses individual and team performance challenges.
Qualifications:
  • Understanding of mechanical principles, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair related to vehicle or aircraft fleet operations.
  • Capability to manage equipment repairs and oversee the resolution of issues with tools, machinery, and other standard technical equipment.
  • Ability to manage inspections, physical assets, and maintain effective relationships with vendors.
This position is not remote or flexible; the selected candidate will be required to report to their designated facility for their regular schedule.
