About the Job: We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Management Specialist to join our team at Washington Metro. The successful candidate will play a critical role in implementing and maintaining a robust Safety Management System (SMS) that prioritizes safety risks, allocates resources against them, measures progress against performance targets, and adjusts to account for lessons learned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and implementation of the Safety Risk Management process using industry best practices such as MIL-STD-882E System Safety Standard Practice.
  • Determine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and establish metrics associated with Metro safety performance to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate Executive Safety Committees to ensure leadership has the information needed to make informed decisions and allocate resources effectively.
  • Develop proactive internal and regulatory risk minimization action plans for real and theoretical risks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, System Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Seven years of experience with administering safety management programs, quality management programs, or applying safety risk management methodologies.
  • Progressive experience with managing multiple concurrent projects.
