Job Title: Adult Inpatient Unit Chief Psychiatrist

Employed by Physician Affiliate Group of New York, P.C. (PAGNY), a leading healthcare organization, for NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. Our hospital operates a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, serving 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island.

We are academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center, training medical students and OBGYN residents. Our hospital is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a robust interdisciplinary treatment team, including nurses, psychologists, clinical pharmacists, social workers, licensed creative arts therapists, and peer counselors to oversee daily operations of an Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
  • Establish and oversee interdisciplinary teams and team meetings.
  • Ensure that community meetings and other therapeutic groups take place as scheduled.
  • Participate in Behavioral Codes on the unit, providing leadership to the staff and patient community.
  • Participate in Medical Codes on the unit until the Code Team arrives.
Key Qualifications:
  • Board eligible or board certified in Adult Psychiatry.
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry.
  • License to practice medicine in the State of New York.
