Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to serve as the clinical lead of our inpatient team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading treatment planning meetings, and ensuring the safe and effective management of patients on the unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Provide direct care to a specific number of patients on the unit, including timely and accurate documentation.
    • Complete admission assessments for all patients within 24 hours of inpatient admission and re-assess patients in a timely manner.
    • Participate in treatment planning meetings and ensure timely documentation consistent with policy.
    • Lead Behavioral Codes on the unit, providing guidance to staff and patients.
    • Participate in Medical Codes on the unit until the Code Team arrives.
    • Ensure the appropriate use of de-escalation techniques, including the timely use of restrictive interventions, to ensure patient safety.
  • Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance, and Risk Management
    • Participate in performance, quality assurance, and clinical pertinence activities.
  • Utilization Management
    • Work with the UM department to conduct MD-to-MD reviews and participate in appeals to ensure authorization of inpatient stays.
    • Maintain focus on key strategic priorities, including patient experience, access to care, increased market share, and improving financial stability.
  • Regulatory Activities
    • Assist in the preparation for surveys.
    • Maintain awareness of standards for certification by regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Board eligible or board certified in Adult Psychiatry.
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Completed residency training in an accredited program in Psychiatry.
  • License to practice medicine in the State of New York.
