About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic and Filter Design Engineer to join our team at Ford Motor Company. As a key member of our Research and Advanced Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-frequency passive components and circuits for our power electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Lead the analysis, simulation, and measurement of high-frequency signals generated in LV & HV power electronic systems.
  • Filter Design: Develop and implement cost-effective solutions such as passive filters, chokes, and resistive snubbers to attenuate high-frequency interaction in inverter, motor, and HV cabling.
  • Optimization: Optimize capacitor layout and busbar design to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including inverter control, low-voltage circuit designers, power electronics, and electric machines.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of research/industry experience in fields of architectural design, simulation, and manufacturing of high-power filters for power electronic systems.
  • Skills: Expertise in circuit parameter extraction and transfer function, from CAD models and measurement of electric systems. Practical experience in designing filters, chokes, and snubbers to attenuate noise generation and propagation in electric drive systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, PLECS, Simplorer, SPICE, Fusion 360, Altium, and KiCAD.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, probes, network analyzers, and HV power supplies.
