Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Mercy.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires the individual to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation: Assist patients in preparing for their visit by completing the Advanced Standard room process, including taking vital signs, reviewing patient history and allergies, and entering chief complaints.
  • Medication Reconciliation: Complete thorough medication reconciliations to ensure accurate and up-to-date medication lists.
  • Encounter Guide: Work the Encounter Guide to identify and address any open care gaps, such as fall risk, depression screening, and diabetic eye exams.
  • Documentation: Complete needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits.
  • In-Office Testing: Assist with various in-office tests, including drawing blood, conducting mental status exams, and administering vaccines and injections within scope of practice.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification: Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) preferred.
  • Experience: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.
