Your Role
Shuttlewagon, a subsidiary of Wabtec, is in search of a dedicated Component Research Specialist to provide aftersales parts support and assistance to Shuttlewagon Dealers by ensuring accurate and prompt customer service. This position collaborates with a skilled and experienced team across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
The Component Research Specialist will:

  • Establish a channel for Shuttlewagon Dealers to effectively identify replacement components, minimizing downtime for customers.
  • Address complex parts inquiries, guarantee order precision, and deliver comprehensive spare parts solutions.
  • Provide part numbers, pricing, product availability, and moderately complex technical information to Shuttlewagon Dealers through verbal and electronic communication.
  • Create, validate, and submit spare parts stock orders for Shuttlewagon Dealers, expedite urgent orders, and communicate backorder statuses.
  • Utilize technical publications, parts manuals, and online resources to research and compile information for Shuttlewagon Dealers and internal stakeholders.
  • Respond promptly to parts research requests in a dynamic environment.
  • Employ parts recognition expertise and mechanical understanding to meet expectations.
  • Navigate the ERP system and other company databases to ensure accurate and timely customer service.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Shuttlewagon partner organizations to align on data requirements and overall needs.
  • Identify essential replacement components for both existing and new products.
  • Engage in regular communication with engineering groups and product suppliers.
  • Identify and address knowledge gaps through targeted training.
  • Validate spare parts application information and provide support for ad hoc projects.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who possess:
  • A BA/BS degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in parts cataloging, lookup, and research.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment components.
  • Experience in a service support environment or supply chain.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting skills for moderate complexity issues.
  • Mechanical aptitude and intermediate proficiency in parts identification.
  • Research and analytical skills with relevant experience.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Fluency in industry terminology.
  • A performance and results-oriented mindset.
  • The capability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The role involves light-duty tasks and requires the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Regular sitting, standing, and walking are necessary, along with the use of hands and fingers for handling objects and tools. Normal vision, correctable if necessary, is required for this role.
