Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Barrett Paving Materials. As a key member of our quality control team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in our asphalt products.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct efficient bituminous asphalt testing, including asphalt content and gradation, maximum theoretical density of mix, and specific gravity of compacted mix.
  • Perform aggregate material testing, sampling, absorption, LA Abrasion, specifications, un-compacted voids, Sodium / Magnesium Loss, crush counts, and inventory products.
  • Develop bituminous mix designs, complete overview of Pennsylvania design processes for HMC and WMA as per job specifications.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Computer, fax, printer, and copier experience.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with coworkers, management, and customers.
  • Safety Conscience and safety oriented.
  • Some mechanical and maintenance skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to understand several types of software programs.
  • Comprehend ASTM and AASHTO standards and procedures.
