Position Overview:
Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) teams and project personnel to ensure adherence to company standards, EH&S protocols, and regulatory obligations on a designated construction site. Facilitate training on safe operational practices to educate and guide project teams in managing environmental and hazardous materials effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) protocols on the assigned construction project, in alignment with safety staffing guidelines set by Headquarters (HQ) EH&S policy.
  • Oversee resource allocation and provide safety leadership to the project team.
  • Evaluate safety practices and identify potential hazards, developing and executing action plans to mitigate risks and enhance safety awareness among project teams.
  • Communicate necessary performance improvements to project leadership and teams, ensuring compliance with project-specific safety standards and best practices.
  • Analyze site safety trends and contribute to reducing Project Incident Rates by achieving established Business Unit (BU) objectives while managing regulatory risks effectively.
  • Create tailored training programs for project-specific needs, educating all personnel on EH&S policies and safe work practices.
  • Advocate for safe work environments in accordance with company policies, EH&S regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Foster strong working relationships with project staff and subcontractor Safety Representatives.
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive project Safety Program and related procedures.
  • Identify unsafe practices and conditions, collaborating with the project team to initiate immediate corrective measures.
  • Develop an accountability framework for project teams to ensure proactive planning for subcontractor activities.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company and EH&S standards.
  • Assess the quality of Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) for subcontractors based on contractual obligations.
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors to discuss safety programs and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Generate safety action items for preconstruction meetings and verify subcontractor training compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Implement an effective orientation program for new employees, tracking participation.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to produce project-specific safety reports, evaluate metrics, and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure timely documentation of subcontractors' toolbox safety meetings.
  • Conduct safety audits of the project team, assessing corrective actions and documenting violations for immediate resolution.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant construction safety experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification as a Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) is required or must be obtained within 2 years of hire.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training and maintenance of current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations.
  • Proficient in applying safety and environmental principles and techniques consistently.
  • Ability to identify safety-related risks and lead the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with general construction operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to build effective professional relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective presentation abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Analytical thinking, sound judgment, and complex problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel and access to reliable transportation.

The role requires physical ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, and using construction personnel hoists. Frequent mobility is necessary, along with the ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
